Wat Nongprue has been the ancient temple in Baan Nongprue for over hundreds of year. It was established on the plain covering with elephant grass (Cattail). In the past, the locals had to walk pass elephant grasses and swamps in order to go to the temple. The first ubosot was founded by Luang Pho Chang. It was the real center of the community. Unfortunately, there was a fire occurred in 2014 and it burnt down the Dhamma study building which was made of golden teak, including antiques collected as historical evidence and references by the abbot for the educational purpose. After the fire, the abbot, monks and the public cooperatively constructed and renovated a new Dhamma study building to be the main building for storing important objects of the temple. It is also the learning sources like in the past, such as a place for housing the relics of the Lord Buddha, organizing Dhamma studies examination, ordaining novices in summer, and many more. Wat Nongprue is the place where the locals has paid respect to and maintained until now.
