Sutthawas Temple

Wat Sutthawas is the symbol of harmony of the locals in Ban Mab Yai Lia Community. The locals built this temple in 1925. Due to the fine texture of soil and sand, the locals named this temple as “Sutthawas”, meaning a place of pure people. The principle Buddha image is a reclining Buddha called “Luang Phor To”. In addition, Wat Sutthawas is also the education center of the community, including Dhamma Studies School, Dhamma Section and Dhamma Studies School, Pali Section. It is the training center for pre-school children as well. The consecrated boundaries were granted to the temple by announcing in the royal decree (a land granted to monks for constructing ubosot and performing religious service, with His Majesty the King acting as an upholder of religions). In 1974, the temple had enough area to build the ubosot, sermon hall, chanting hall, pavilion for making merits and Buddhist monk cloister. Therefore, locals are able to make merits and perform religious rites here conveniently until now.
