Nong Ked Yai Temple

Wat Nong Ket Yai is established in 1771 by Saengthong and family who was the rich and owned a great number of lands. They lived in Nongplalai Sub-district and loved making merit. One day, while Saengthong is working in the field, there was a monk called Luangta Glub walking pass the field. They met and discuss about the establishment of a temple. Two monks, Chao Khun Nong and Chao Khun Yai, the siblings who are expert in construction and architecture, were invited from Wat Nong Yai to establish the temple and ubosot. It was originally called “Wat Yai”. When Somdet Maha Samana Chao Krom Vajiranyanavarorasa visited this temple, he changed the name of Wat Yai to Wat Nong Ket Yai. It is believed that the temple was named after Chao Khun Nong and Chao Khun Yai. Since then, the temple has been called Wat Nong Ket Yai until now. Wat Nong Ket Yai has old chapel and beautiful ubosot. Tourists always visit here and pay respect to Luang Por Ket mongkol every day.
