The Buddha image is the sitting form in the style of Pang Man Wichai as Phrawarachabopit. It is a combination of Lanna and Sukhothai arts. The image size is 130 meters high including its base. It is the world’s biggest sculpted Buddha image, which is to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his accession in 1996. The construction was completed in 2000. His Majesty King Bhumibol awarded the Lord Buddha’s relics to be enshrined inside the chest part of this Buddha image. Relics of the Lord Buddha were installed at Pha Khao Cheechan during the opening ceremony in 2001 conducted by Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Buddhist religion.
