Vihara of Wat Saen Muang Ma
This chapel was created by cultural integration, remarkable by the Tai Lue art combined with Lanna’s. The vihara was built in 1857. After the construction was done, a Sala (Lanna technician) from Sibsongpanna was invited to sculpt the principal Buddha image. The pattern of the art works currently seen inside the temple is the handwork of migrated Tai Lue. The noticeable thing is the roof is covered by teak (scale pattern) with roof support called “Ma Tang Mai” which is especially a Tia Lue art. The wall inside the vihara is painted with the past history and way of life of Tai Lue people in Ban Mang. There is a Buddha image built according to the style of Tai Lue Buddhist art which is the only one in Chiang Kham. It was restored in 1989 with 3 protruding verandas which were lion, tiger, and Naga. The corbels are in the shape of Himaphan forest animal.
