Ban Nam Chiao Community (Social Enterprise Group)

Ban Nam Chiao is a community-based cultural tourism destination located in Nam Chiao Subdistrict, Laem Ngop District, Trat Province. It is a village on the way to Koh Chang by boat. Nam Chiao Village is a community of two religions and three cultures. The harmony has developed award-winning tourism. Come and experience the unity between Buddhists and Muslims at Nam Chiao Community, Trat Province, which has developed ecotourism systematically and has received many tourism awards. The original population of Nam Chiao Subdistrict was Thai who were Buddhists. Later, Chinese merchants sailed a junk to trade goods at Ban Nam Chiew Pier and settled here. As a result, some of the Nam Chiew people were Thais of Chinese descent. Later, during the reign of King Rama III, Muslims who called themselves “Cham or Champa” fled the war from Cambodia and settled down on the banks of Nam Chiao Canal. Buddhists and Muslims can intermarry, so brothers and sisters of both religions live together peacefully and with good relations in Nam Chiao Subdistrict. Come and experience the community’s way of life, visit the Al-Qubra Mosque, see a demonstration of how to make ngop leaves from palm leaves, and take a small boat to see the way of life of the fishermen. Walk across the bridge of courage that it is said that if anyone comes to Ban Nam Chiao and does not cross the bridge of courage, it is considered that you have not arrived. And what is not to be missed when you come here is “Khao Kriap Ya Na” which is a snack food that is a food of Muslims, etc.
