Phra Tamnak Kham Yat

Located in Tambon Kham Yat, about 2 km west of Wat Pho Thong on the same road. The building stands out in the middle of a rice field, made of brick and mortar, 10 meters wide and 20 meters long. Currently, only 4 walls remain, but the beautiful art can still be seen, such as the decorative arches and windows. When King Chulalongkorn traveled along the Makham Thao River in 1908, he visited this ancient site and wrote a royal letter explaining that he originally had the idea that Khun Luang Ha Wat (Prince Uthumphon, Kromkhun Phraphinit) had been ordained at Wat Pho Thong and built this palace to reside in because it had a suitable location. When he saw the palace built with meticulous beauty, his original idea changed. He thought that it was unlikely that Khun Luang Hawat would have such a grand idea to build a temporary residence or a stronghold for fighting to look so beautiful. Therefore, he assumed that this palace must have been built during the reign of King Borommakot as a place to stay during the night because he liked to travel to the city in this area often, similar to King Prasat Thong who built a residence at Bang Pa-in while Kromkhun Phraphinit was ordained at Wat Ratchaphithi. He brought his courtiers and monks who were loyal to him from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya to stay at Wat Pho Thong and stayed at Kham Yat Palace to join the villagers of Bang Rachan. Currently, the Fine Arts Department has restored and registered Kham Yat Palace as an ancient site. Source: https://thailandtourismdirectory.go.th/th/info/attraction/detail/itemid/3014
