Pha Bing Cave

Pha Bing Cave is located at the foot of the mountain in the area of ​​Wat Tham Pha Bing. It is a large footprint of the Lord Buddha that is different from any other place I have ever seen. The footprint is on the wall of the cave above your head instead of being on the floor like other places. Venerable Ajahn Man Phurithatto once stayed here twice, in 1911 and 1918. The Venerable Ajahn pointed out that it was the footprint of the Lord Buddha. Location and Directions: In the area of ​​Wat Tham Pha Bing, Tambon Pha Bing, Amphoe Wang Saphung. By car: From Wang Saphung District, take Highway No. 201 towards Nong Hin District until you reach km. 180, at the intersection on the right onto Highway No. 2250. Turn in and drive for about 7 km. Wat Tham Pha Bing is on the right. The cave is in the temple area. By bus: Take the Wang Saphung-Nagae bus and get off at Wat Tham Pha Bing. By taxi: Rent a songthaew from Wang Saphung Market for 150 baht. Interesting things: Buddha’s footprint It appears on the ceiling of a cave on a deep cliff where a Buddha image is enshrined. You have to walk up to the Buddha image and then turn around and look up at the ceiling of the cave to see the Buddha footprint about 4 km up. The footprint is 1 m long and 0.5 m wide, but the pattern and the fingerprints are not clear. The Fine Arts Department registered it as an ancient object along with Phra That Si Song Rak in 1955. Wang Saphung District organizes an annual celebration on the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 3rd or 4th lunar month (around March).
