Jomtien Beach

Jomtien Beach is the beach adjoining from Pattaya Beach to the south. The outstanding appearance is the light brown sandy beach. It was originally known as “Dongtan Beach” because it had many sugar palms. Later, its name was changed to “Jomtien Beach” to memorize “Phra Nang Jomtien Pikul Kaewdara Sawang”, the beautiful lady of U-Thai Thong City where it was believed that it was the lost city hidden in Pattaya city. It was said that her skin was gorgeous like the candle light, similar to the sand sparkled by the sunlight. With the slope of the beach lower than other beaches, when the tide is high, the beach wlll be covered with sea water and the beach becomes narrow. When the tide is low, the light brown sandy beach will appear and the width of some areas is up tp 100 meters. Currently, there are several hotels, resorts, bangalows, and restaurants located on this beach, including water sport activities along the 6-kilometer beach. However, Jomtien Beach is situated towards the west so it is popular to visitors for sightseeing the sunset on this beach.
