Ta Kradan Temple

Wat Tha Kradan is located in Banglamung Municipality. It was assumed that it was built in the late Ayutthaya Period. It was renovated by the Department of Religious Affairs in 2000. This temple has the historical significance based on the legend. It was said that King Taksin lost soldiers due to jungle fever and epidemic while they were traveling and gathering the army from the east province. Therefore, the King encamped and cremated bodies of soldiers at Wat Tha Kradan. To memorize the camping and be aware of the sacrifice of these ancestors, the temple also constructed King Taksin Shrine to allow the locals and tourists to pay respect to and ask King Taksin for blessings relating to safe trip. In addition, Wat Tha Kradan is also the place for Vipassana meditation.
