Community History\tFrom Sipsongpanna to Chiang Kham…the destination of the Tai Lue culture, Tai Lue people of Chiang Kham District, Phayao, who were originally from Panna, Pong City, where consists of Pong City, Yuan City, and Mang City located in the Sipsongpanna region in the south of Yunnan, People's Republic of China, had to immigrate “heading to cross Mekong River” as a result of the trouble from the war. They firstly settled at Ban Ngao, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai, and lived there for 7 years. After that, they had to move to Chiang Muan for governing policy reasons. However, due to the limited state of the city, poverty, inappropriate landscape for farmers, therefore, they asked for an approval of the King of Nan to live back in Chiang Kham as they saw that this area was a lowland and good location with many rivers suitable for building habitation and living “a happy life” which is to live without difficulty. Tai Lue people who were from Yuan City also settled their community in Ban Yuan. People from Mang City also lived in Ban Mang until the present.\tNowadays, Ban Tai Lue Community, Chiang Kham District, still maintains and inherits the unique Tai Lue cultures and traditions carried for a long time, whether dressing culture, house shape, food, belief, and religious ceremony. The remarkable art of the Tai Lue people is the Tai Lue textile. The history and way of life of the Tai Lue people in Chiang Kham are collected at three places which are Tai Lue History Hall, Wat Phra That Sob Waen. The second place is inside the vihara of Wat Sarn Muang Ma, and at Lue Thai Culture Center, Wat Yuan, where are available to serve tourists to experience the impressive way of life.
