King Taksin Shrine
King Taksin the Great Shrine or “Chao Pho Kate Ngam Shrine” is the sacred shrine to which the locals have always pay respect. It was originally an old wooden shrine. However, its sacredness, including superstitious power and holiness arising to people who visited and paid respect to this shrine causes the reputation by word of mouth. As a result, Pattaya entities cooperated with kind-hearted people and organizations to renovate King Taksin the Great Shrine or Chao Pho Kate Ngam Shrine for further lasting with Pattaya people. King Taksin the Great was the King and the army leader whom locals always believe in. Once he set up camping for his troops at Thap Phraya before heading to Ayutthaya to battle and take the city back from Burma. It is believed that the word Pattaya was derived from the word Thap Phraya which means the troop of King Taksin. His talent, ability and kindness is widely recognized and accepted. Therefore, when there was a project to build King Taksin the Great Shrine, it had good feedback and was supported constantly.
