Phra Khao Yai Temple

Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Hill) is where the huge image of Buddha called “Phra Buddha Sukhothai Walai Chonlathan” or also known as “Luang Phor Yai” by the locals is situated. This Buddha image is the largest one in Chonburi Province, established in 1977. The golden Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara is 5 Wa 9 inches wide. Around the area for paying respect to Luang Phor Yai, there are standing Buddha images and Buddha of the Day for visitors to pay respect to and take photos. The stairways leading to the Big Buddha feature two 7-headed Nagas. Around the stairways, there is a walkway and numbers of hanging bells for visitors to hit them. It is believed that good things will happen in the life. At the top of the hill, tourists also enjoy sightseeing the beautiful view of Pattaya City.
